Inflation rate in Cape Verde for the year 2013 stood at 1.5 percent, approximately one percentage point below the figure registered in 2012, 2.5 percent. In December of 2013, the homologous variation rate registered by the Consumer Price Index was 0.1 percent, up 0.1 of a percentage point from November’s figure. Monthly variation between November and December was 0.5 percent.
Goods and services (up 5.4 percent), communications (up 4.5 percent), home rentals, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (up 4.4 percent), accessories, maintenance equipment and housing (2.6 percent), beverages, alcohol and tobacco (up 2.3 percent) and health care (up 1 percent) were the areas that saw the largest price increases over the course of the year.
