Comedienne Joan Rivers died Thursday afternoon, a week after going into cardiac arrest during a minor procedure at a clinic in New York. She was 81. A pioneer of female comedy, Rivers once told her daughter Melissa Rivers that she wanted her funeral to be a huge showbiz affair with lights, cameras, action…

“I want Craft services,” she said. “I want paparazzi and I want publicists making a scene! … I want Meryl Streep crying, in five different accents… I want Bobby Vinton to pick up my head and sing ‘Mr. Lonely.’ I want to look gorgeous, better dead than I do alive. I want to be buried in a Valentino gown and I want Harry Winston to make me a toe tag and I want a wind machine so that even in my casket my hair is blowing just like Beyonce’s.”

Her funeral will be on Sunday — a private family affair. But today she is being remembered around the world for the trailblazer she was with everyone from Prince Charles to Jimmy Fallon paying tribute on social media. We’ve compiled 10 memorial tweets remembering Joan Rivers from news organizations and celebrities.
